My name is Jewel Clark. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and I am currently finishing my fourth year at Arizona State University. My focus is Graphic Design and I expect to graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Design Studies.
I wanted to make This blog into a journal, a time capsule, an empty space to be filled with ideas, things, people, and places that serve as sources of inspiration and a call for self-reflection. There will be music, art, and designs of all kinds that I’ve discovered from roaming the depths of the internet universe. Spontaneous bouts of other things that cannot be classified will appear as well. My creations will pop up every now and then and sometimes I’ll post ideas and thoughts that I have, interesting things I hear from others, and conversations I have with myself that I’m not too embarrassed to share.
Something that is just as important t me as graphic design is writing. The written word, to me, is just as important as any visual that I create, and I treat the act of writing as an art as well. I love to read and write personal essays and fiction in my free time. This is why my main focus is to eventually work for magazine companies designing responsive features online and print layouts.
I see every artist as an activist, every piece of work has a purpose and passion in it. I like to think of myself as a designer with a conscious: I’m heavily interested in environmental, ethical, social, and humanitarian issues and plan to communicate the importance of these issues through my work and be involved with companies that are passionate about these issues as well.
I have a deep love for other fields of design, especially fashion design, and an admiration for architecture. I have an eclectic taste in music that keeps growing (everything from Blues and Punk Rock to Spanish and African musicians). I also like searching art and design websites and blogs in order to discover new artists and find inspiration.
